»rocking chair relax« is made for outdoors and to enjoy the calming effect of rocking. This project is developed in cooperation with the metal construction and welding specialist company Metallbau Stehr located in Obernkirchen, Lower Saxony. Developing this rocking chair design meant to keep in mind the limit of the company‘s machinery. In this case, the rocking chair frame is based on the manufacturing method of welding and roll bending and is entirely made by hand. The frame made of stainless steel pipes is screwed in 8 places and is easy to assemble and on its bottom a wooden skid is mounted to floors protection. A special feature of the rocking chair is the suspended seat, which means that the body has no contact surface with the frame. This is what the design idea is based on. It’s about creating a combination of the sitting position of a lounger and the soft and calming effect of a hammock in order to offer the body optimal conditions for relaxation. The seat cover sewn of sturdy and tear-resistant canvas can be completely and easily separated from the frame by loosening two ropes and cleaned with the washing machine.

»rocking chair relax« ist ein für den Aussenbereich konzipierter Schaukelstuhl. Er ist in Kooperation mit Metallbau Stehr in Obernkirchen entstanden. Das Design wurde unter Berücksichtigung der Fertigungsmethode des Schweißens und Rollbiegens entwickelt. Die Idee hinter dem Schaukelstuhl ist der Wunsch ein gemütliches Möbel für die Terrasse zu entwerfen, welches die angenehme Sitzposition einer Liege mit dem weichen Schaukeln einer Hängematte verbindet.
